Why do so many fire trucks respond to simple incidents?
Our firefighters prepare for the worst that can happen in any situation. If there is even a remote possibility that the call could be for a building fire, as many as five fire trucks will be dispatched. Responding as quickly and safely as we can for the worst possible encounter ensures that we are always prepared for any situation. View the following page for more information on fire services.

1.
Who should I call if I see someone dump oil down a storm drain?
If you see someone dumping oil or other similar materials down a storm drain, contact the Dispatch Center at (203) 866-3312. They will send someone to investigate the incident.
2.
Why do fire trucks show up when people call 9-1-1 for ambulances?
The Norwalk Fire Department is designated as an emergency medical first-responder. Because fire stations are located throughout the city, firefighters, who are trained to handle all medical emergencies, often arrive before ambulances and can start life-saving procedures like CPR.
