The Norwalk Fire Department Office of Emergency Management is monitoring the approach of Tropical Storm Nicole and encourages residents to prepare for heavy rains and high winds on Thursday.
This storm is expected to impact our area throughout the day on Thursday and into Thursday night. Residents should expect high winds and heavy rains during the afternoon and evening on Thursday. The storm is expected to cause power outages from falling trees and electrical lines. Roadway flooding is also expected. A Flood Watch and a High Wind watch have been issued by the NWS for our area for Thursday and Thursday night.
Residents are cautioned not to drive through flooded roadways, expect that downed trees or limbs may include live electrical lines and power outages are likely.
An emergency kit including a flashlight and a battery operated radio are important to keep families safe. A full list of safety supplies can be found on the City’s Emergency Management Website www.norwalkct.org
Residents who experience a power outage should notify CL&P at 800-286-2000. SNEW Customers should call 203-866-3366 to report outages.
The City’s Emergency Management Team is monitoring the storm and are preparing Department personnel and equipment to respond to this event as needed.
