[ARCHIVED] Walk Your Way to Health with the Health Department and Our Partners

Join the Greater Norwalk Healthy Living Workgroup, the Norwalk Health Department, and the Norwalk Public Library as they proudly present, “Walking Your Way to Health” with Robert Sweetgall this Thursday, October 10, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm, at Norwalk City Hall (125 East Avenue, Norwalk).

In the first part of the program (5:30 pm to 6:30 pm), attendees are invited to bring the kids and participate in a StoryWalk, at which we’ll walk the track behind City Hall and read pages from Leaves by David Ezra Stein. In this delightful children’s book, a bear discovers falling leaves and learns about the seasons.

The program continues with an educational forum in the Norwalk Concert Hall (6:30 pm to 7:30 pm), where Mr. Sweetgall will explain how walking can help us add years to our lives and life to our years. He’ll provide instruction and demonstration on walking programs that can help wake up our brains, promote a positive outlook, improve our quality of life, increase energy, and reduce our risk of heart disease, diabetes, and other chronic diseases. Robert Sweetgall is a national walking expert, author, and motivational speaker who has trekked across America the equivalent of seven times and is the only person to have walked through all 50 states—11,208 miles—in a year.

Admission is free, and door prizes will be awarded. Registration is encouraged, but walk-ins are also welcome. The first 10 people to register and attend will receive a copy of Mr. Sweetgall’s latest book, One Heart, Two Feet. Register by calling 203-854-7977 or emailing targondezzi@norwalkct.org. Please wear sneakers or walking shoes and comfortable attire for light physical activity.
