The Norwalk Health Department Farmers Market is back! Starting July 10, Norwalk community members can get fresh, locally grown produce each Wednesday in the Health Department parking lot (137 East Avenue) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The market will run until November 6.
Fruits and vegetables offer so many wonderful health benefits. They contain essential vitamins, minerals, and fiber and are naturally low in fat and calories. As part of a healthy diet, they can even lower our risk of some chronic diseases. Nutrition experts recommend that we all get five servings of fruits and vegetables and that we make sure fruits and vegetables cover half our plate at every meal.
For this year’s Farmers Market, the Health Department welcomes back Killam and Bassette Farmstead from South Glastonbury, who will bring a variety of fruits and vegetables. This farmer accepts cash, credit, Women, Infants and Children Program (WIC) vouchers, and Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP).
Space is available for additional vendors offering healthy foods.
For general information about the market, please contact the health department at 203-854-7776.
