The Health Department joins the American Heart Association on National Walking Day (April 3) and throughout the year to encourage our community members to get moving through walking and other physical activity.
Walking just 30 minutes each day can help reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke, reduce stress, and lower blood pressure. The American Heart Association launched National Start Walking Day to encourage Americans to walk at least 30 minutes each day.
Everyone who lives, works, learns, and plays in Norwalk can use the Health Department’s NorWALKER program to incorporate more physical activity into their everyday lives. NorWALKER offers maps of walking routes in more than a dozen neighborhoods throughout Norwalk and includes information about areas of historical significance and environmental interest.
More information and NorWALKER maps can be found on the Health Department's website. For more information about National Start Walking Day, visit http://www.startwalkingnow.org/.
