(Norwalk, Conn.) Today, September 9, Mayor Rilling announced that the City's annual free Open House and Touch-a-Truck event will be on Saturday, October 1, from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. The event will take place at the Public Works Center and Norwalk Fire Department Training Tower at 15 South Smith Street, Norwalk, CT 06855.
The Norwalk Fire, Police, Public Works Departments and the Norwalk Hospital EMS will be present to share information and resources. There will be hands-on activities, giveaways, and demonstrations for all ages. Children and adults will learn how City departments prepare and respond to all types of events to keep residents safe and will have the opportunity to explore different vehicles and meet responders and staff.
In support of the Open Door Food Pantry in South Norwalk, all visitors are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items, especially peanut butter, jelly, tuna, macaroni & cheese, pasta sauce, soup and kid-friendly snacks. In past years, this event has collected about 800 pounds of food for our neighbors in need.
Light, packaged refreshments will be provided, and the event will be held rain or shine. For any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with our Customer Service Center at (203) 854-3200 or by email at CustomerService@norwalkct.org.
