[ARCHIVED] Mayor Rilling Announces Michelle Woods Matthews as New Communications Director

(Norwalk, Conn.) – Today, March 10th, Mayor Harry Rilling announced that Michelle Woods Matthews will serve as the City of Norwalk’s new Communications Director, effective today. Woods Matthews succeeds Josh Morgan, who left the position in January for a new opportunity within state government.

“I am thrilled to have Michelle Woods Matthews join our team,” said Mayor Rilling. “She has a dynamic background and wealth of communications experience. She joins us from Connecticut State Treasurer Shawn Wooden’s office where she served as the Press Secretary and managed their strategic communications efforts. We are fortunate to have her in our city and know that her talents will greatly benefit the residents of Norwalk.”

Woods Matthews most recently held the positions of Press Secretary and Communications Manager at the Office of Connecticut State Treasurer Shawn Wooden. Previously, she was the Communications Director at Pro-Choice Virginia and the Public and Legislative Affairs Manager at Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington, D.C. She is currently pursuing her second master’s degree in Public Administration from UConn and relocating to Norwalk in April.
