[ARCHIVED] Veterans Day Concert and Ceremony 2021

The City of Norwalk and the Norwalk Military & Veterans Liaison Committee invites members of the public to attend the annual Veterans Day Concert and Ceremony on Thursday, November 11 in the Norwalk Concert Hall. This free event runs from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Masks are required to be worn, and certain seats in the Concert Hall will be blocked to ensure social distancing.

A concert by a quintet of brass and a percussionist from the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra will perform from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. The formal ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m. with a posting of the colors by the Norwalk Police Department Color Guard, followed by the National Anthem, and remarks by Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling.

This year’s guest speaker is Jim LaCoursiere, an Air Force veteran and 27-year member of The American Legion and a member of Post 91 in Moosup, Connecticut, a 13-year member of The Sons of The American Legion, Squadron 91 Moosup, and the founding “father” of Connecticut’s American Legion Riders.

The ceremony will be paused at 11 a.m. to mark the 11th month, 11th day, 11th hour, that the armistice was signed ending combat operations in World War I. There will also be a ceremonial ringing of a bell 21 times to mark the centennial of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington Cemetery.

This event is free and open to the public.
