[ARCHIVED] Pumpkin Composting Available in November

The City of Norwalk will be providing special compost bins specifically for Pumpkin Composting during the month of November at both the Norwalk Transfer Station, 61 Crescent St. and the Rowayton Community Center, 33 Highland Ave., starting on Monday, November 1, 2021.

Residents are advised of the following information regarding the Pumpkin Composting:

  • Pumpkins cannot be decorated with paint or glitter. If they are decorated pumpkins cannot be composted and should be put in the garbage.
  • There can only be organics inside the pumpkin - no candles, wax, or plastics.
  • Do not mix pumpkins in the food scraps bins. Pumpkins must be placed in separate bins which are clearly labeled.
  • Pumpkin composting is available during normal business hours.
