On March 25, 2021, Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling was joined at City Hall by members of the Greek Community to honor and celebrate Greek Independence Day. March 25, 2021 was the 200th Anniversary of Greece’s Independence Day, and Mayor Rilling issued a special proclamation commemorating this special occasion.
“Greek Independence Day provides the opportunity to celebrate the independence, history, and cultural richness of the Greek Community. It is my privilege to recognize and honor the Greek community in Norwalk, who have made significant civic and cultural contributions to our City,” Mayor Rilling said. “Congratulations to the Greek community and I ask all residents to join me in celebrating the 200th Anniversary of Greek Independence Day.”
While the 200th anniversary was a significant milestone, this year’s event was scaled back due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Mayor Rilling and the City of Norwalk look forward to honoring Greek Independence Day in 2022 with a more robust celebration with members of the community.
