There will be no garbage and recycling collection services by the City of Norwalk on New Year’s Day, Friday, January 1. Garbage and recycling normally collected on Friday will be collected on Saturday, January 2.
The Norwalk Transfer Station and the Yard Waste Site will close New Year’s Eve, Thursday, December 31 at 1 p.m. and will remain closed on New Year’s Day, Friday, January 1. City Hall and other City facilities will also be closed on Friday. The Transfer Station will reopen Saturday, January 2, 2021. The Yard Waste Site will reopen on Monday, January 4, 2021.
During the Winter Season, the Yard Waste Site is open Monday – Friday 7:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. The Yard Waste Site will be open two Saturdays in January from 7:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. - January 9 and January 16, weather permitting. A proper disposal permit is required. Residents can print a pass at home at norwalkct.org/passes.
Christmas tree collection for Norwalk residents who receive City garbage collection will occur twice in January – the week of January 4 and January 11. Please have trees curbside by 6 a.m. on the Monday of the collection weeks as trucks only pass by once.
