To All City Employees:

2020 has been a year we will never forget, although sometimes we probably wish we could. This has been a year of sadness, heartbreak, and pain. However, as the COVID-19 vaccine continue to become more available, we are starting to see shimmers of light on the horizon. We will defeat this virus, make no mistake about that, but we still have our work cut out for us.

I am humbled this year by the efforts of City and School staff who have tirelessly worked throughout the pandemic to meet the needs of residents, families, and students. This year has been hard on us all, and you have been here for the community each and every day. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for all that you have done. 

The Holiday Season is usually a time of reflection on the year gone by, and while we will never lose sight of what this year has meant, let us also try to focus on the good things that are ahead. All signs point to 2021 as a time when we can hug our grandchildren again, go to the movies with our friends, visit our parents, travel abroad, and start crossing things off our bucket lists that were put on hold this past year. None of us at this time last year knew what 2020 had in store, but I am optimistic that brighter days are within our reach. 

There is a lot to do as the calendar flips into 2021 – and I am optimistic about what we will be able to achieve. I know this year has not been easy, but please remember you are the engine that makes the City of Norwalk move forward. Thank you, thank you, thank you. 

City Hall and City facilities will be closing at 1 p.m. on Christmas Eve, December 24 and will remain closed on Christmas Day, December 25.
