[ARCHIVED] Online Land Records System now Available

The City of Norwalk launched an online land records system today, March 20, 2020 that allows the public to conduct business remotely. This online system had been scheduled to “go live” in early summer, but due to COVID-19 pandemic, and subsequent closure of City Hall to the public, officials expedited the project. The system is available at norwalkct.org/townclerk.

“This is a project that we’ve had in the works for some time. Rather than keep it on a normal schedule, I felt it was important to turn this system on as quickly as possible to allow residents to continue conducting important businesses while City Hall is closed, while maintaining social distance during this pandemic,” Norwalk Mayor Harry W. Rilling said. “We are doing the best we can during these difficult times. I appreciate the efforts of Town Clerk Rick McQuaid, our outside vendor NewVision, and our Information Technology Department for making this a priority.”

Previously, online land records services only showed the name or type documents available and required someone to come to City Hall for more details. Now, full access to these documents is available for anyone trying to obtain a mortgage, refinance, close on a property, and more. Documents can be viewed and completed online.

The Town Clerk’s office remains closed to the public until further notice. Documents may be submitted by mail to the Town Clerk’s office, where staff will record them upon receipt. Please call or email the Town Clerk’s office to make arrangements for Death or Birth Certificates and Marriage License.

Free online access to search the land records data and images is temporarily allowed during the time access to City Hall is restricted due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The Town Clerk may at any time resume the requirement for subscription only and paid access to search.

The system is available online at norwalkct.org/townclerk. For more information, please contact the Town Clerk’s office at (203) 854-7747. Staff is working staggered hours during the closure of City Hall, and messages will be returned as soon as possible.
