[ARCHIVED] East Wall Street–Landmark Square Project Meeting on Oct. 30

Rendering of East Wall Street Project Boundaries

On Wednesday, October 30 at 6:30 p.m., the Norwalk Department of Public Works will conduct a Public Information Meeting regarding a safety, accessibility, and streetscape improvement project on Wall Street between Brook Street and Main Street.

The project includes narrowing travel lanes, replacing existing sidewalks with granite curbs and stamped brick and concrete walkways, adding new crosswalks and a raised crosswalk/speed table, and new historic lighting. The project is part of the city’s Complete Street efforts to calm vehicular traffic and provide greater pedestrian safety and accessibility. The $1.5 million project is fully-funded by a Local Transportation Capital Improvement Program (LOTCIP) grant. The public is invited to attend the meeting and ask questions about the project. Detailed plans are currently available for view in the Public Works Department at Norwalk City Hall.

“We are continuing our investments in the Wall Street area with this streetscape project. Adding crosswalks and calming vehicular traffic will make the area safer and more pedestrian friendly,” said Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling. “I encourage the public to attend the Public Information Meeting next week to ask questions and learn more about this exciting project.”

The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in Norwalk City Hall Council Chambers with a presentation from the Department of Public Works. At approximately 7 p.m. a question and answer session will take place. Shortly thereafter, an open forum and individual discussions with staff will occur. This special Public Information Meeting will focus on the specific details of this project only.

Those who cannot attend, but wish to submit questions or comments can do so to Paul L. Sotnik, Senior Civil Engineer, City of Norwalk at 125 East Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06851 or via email to PSotnik@norwalkct.org.
