[ARCHIVED] Fight the Flu! Get Your Flu Shot.

Flu Clinic Information 2019

Fight the flu this Fall, and get your flu shot from the Norwalk Health Department! The best way to protect yourself and your family from the flu is to get a flu shot. The Health Department’s trusted professionals are here to help with our 2019 flu clinics and walk-in hours.

The Health Department will hold two clinics for the public this year:

•    Thursday, October 17, 10 am to 12 pm

•    Tuesday, October 22, 5 pm to 7 pm

In addition, the Health Department will be open for walk-in hours every Tuesday from 1 pm – 3 pm, beginning October 29.

All clinics will be held at the Health Department (137 East Avenue, Norwalk), and no appointment is necessary.

You can receive the flu shot for no charge with most insurances. The Health Department accepts Medicare Part B, Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cigna, ConnectiCare, Oxford, and United Healthcare. Please bring all your insurance cards with you. Otherwise, standard seasonal flu shots cost $25, and high-dose flu shots (an option for patients age 65 and older) cost $50.

Anyone older than 6 months of age is encouraged to get their flu shot. When coming for their flu shot, all clients should bring all insurance cards and try to wear short sleeves for easy access to the injection site.

In addition to getting your flu shot, you can take several other simple steps to help stay healthy this winter:

•    Wash your hands often with soap and water

•    Cover your nose and mouth when you sneeze or cough

•    Stay home if you feel sick

In addition to clinics that are open to the public, the Health Department also works with employers to hold quick, efficient flu clinics at worksites, providing a valuable benefit to employees.

If you have a question about the flu vaccine, call your physician. For questions about the community flu clinics or to inquire about arranging a vaccination clinic at your worksite, please call the Norwalk Health Department at 203-854-7776.
