[ARCHIVED] Join the Emergency Response Team

Emergency Response Team Fall 2018 recruitment

September is National Preparedness Month. Throughout September, look for highlights of the Norwalk Health Department’s emergency preparedness work, as well as valuable information about how you and your family can take steps to prepare for emergencies.

First, though, we invite you to join our growing Emergency Response Team (ERT), which helps Health Department staff prepare for and respond to public health emergencies. The Health Department needs adults who live or work in the Norwalk and New Canaan areas for key positions on its ERT.

“I am grateful to all of the first and emergency responders who put the safety and well-being of others before all else,” said Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling. “ERT volunteers donate their time and energy to help their neighbors in times of need. They are a true asset to our community.”

This cohort of volunteers will join a dedicated and diverse group of more than 70 people—with both medical and non-medical backgrounds—who’ve already been trained and serve on the ERT. The Health Department provides training and insurance for ERT members, while volunteers provide their time and skills.

The ERT is a great way to give back to your community, meet new people, and learn more about public health emergency preparedness.

Sign up now! Group interviews for the Fall cohort will be held on September 17 at 4 pm or September 20 at 7 pm. Training sessions will run for five Tuesdays this Fall, 7 - 9 pm (September 25 and October 2, 9, 16 and 23). Advanced registration is required.
