Visit the Norwalk Health Department during National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW) to get valuable information about childhood vaccines. On Monday, April 23 and Friday, April 27, from 10 am to 3 pm, a representative from the Immunization Action Plan Program will be in the Health Department lobby to provide information about the Connecticut Immunization Registry and Tracking System (CIRTS), childhood vaccines, vaccine safety, and the whooping cough vaccine.

NIIW is an annual observance to highlight the importance of protecting infants from vaccine-preventable diseases and celebrate the achievements of immunization programs and their partners in promoting healthy communities.

The Health Department provides several common vaccines for children, adults, and travelers. In addition to offering routine childhood vaccines for diseases such as measles, polio, and chickenpox, the Health Department also offers free whooping cough vaccine to people who care for infants. If you are 11 to 64 years of age and are a family member or caregiver of an infant younger than 12 months old, the Health Department can provide you with a free vaccine to protect against whooping cough. Also, the Health Department participates in the Connecticut Vaccine Program (CVP), which offers vaccines at no cost for eligible children.
