Adults who live and work in the Norwalk area are needed for key positions on the Emergency Response Team (ERT). This team of volunteers—which includes people with both medical and non-medical backgrounds—donates their time and expertise to prepare for and respond to emergencies and to promote healthy living year-round.

“We are building a community-based Emergency Response Team,” said Tim Callahan, Norwalk Director of Health. “A sizeable team of trained people can help us deliver the best possible care in a public health emergency.”

The goal of the ERT is to extend the resources of the professional Health Department staff. ERT volunteers work with public health officials to spread preparedness messages within the community and assist with other public health programs and events. The Health Department provides training and insurance, while volunteers provide their time and skills.

Act quickly. This cohort of volunteers is starting soon! The next scheduled group interview will be held on March 22, and the program training starts March 28.
