BLUMENTHAL, MAYOR RILLING, CHIEF KULHAWIK, CLERGY, TO DISCUSS INCREASING TRUST BETWEEN POLICE & COMMUNITIES OF COLOR IN NORWALK
(Hartford, CT) – At 10:00 AM on Friday, July 22 at Norwalk City Hall, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), Mayor Harry Rilling, and Police Chief Tom Kulhawik, along with law enforcement, clergy, and members of the community, will hold a meeting to discuss Norwalk’s community policing model, current challenges in policing, and potential solutions for increasing trust between police and communities of color. The discussion will also explore ways in which federal resources and programs may assist this effort to encourage greater collaboration and cooperation.
In the wake of tragedies this month in Texas, Minnesota, and Louisiana, Blumenthal has held roundtables in New Haven, Bridgeport, and Hartford as a way to bring together law enforcement, clergy, local elected officials, and NAACP leaders.
