On behalf of the Norwalk Fire Department, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Norwalk Fire Department website.

The Norwalk Fire Department was established in 1859 and consists of 141 uniformed and 7 civilian professionals committed to providing the highest level of public safety service for our community.

As with any Fire Department our core mission is to protect the public from fire. We do this through a team approach to Public Fire Safety Education, Fire Prevention, Fire Suppression, and Fire Investigation.

The Norwalk Fire Department is an all hazards department meaning that we also protect the public from many other types of events that can threaten the city or its residents. We do this through first responder Emergency Medical Services, Emergency Management of man- made and natural disasters, Hazardous Materials Response, and Technical Rescue.

This website enhances our outreach by allowing us to rapidly update the public about emergencies, events, and other important information. In addition, it allows citizens to quickly find the answers to many of the questions they may have about the department.
