The Norwalk Health Department offers a Travel Immunization Program for those clients who require vaccination for travel abroad. Staff can provide consultations about travel vaccine needs. The Health Department is an authorized Yellow Fever Center and can provide travelers with the Certificate of Yellow Fever Vaccination, which is required to enter some countries. Prescriptions for malarial prophylaxis are also available.

Routine Adult Immunizations

Adults need certain routine vaccines, even if they never travel. These vaccines include:
  • Flu vaccine - Recommended yearly
  • Pneumonia vaccine - Recommended for adults 65 and older and others at risk
  • Tetanus and diphtheria boosters - Recommended every 10 years
  • Herpes Zoster Recombinant (Shingrix) - Recommended for adults 50 years and older

Hepatitis B TdaP (Tetanus / diphtheria / pertussis)
Japanese encephalitis Tetanus / Diphtheria
Meningitis Typhoid, oral and injectable

Pneumonia

Travel and Adult Immunization Clinics are held by appointment only. Please call with questions or to schedule an appointment. 
For travel immunizations, it's best to get vaccines at least a month before your trip, but we are happy to accommodate people with last minute plans.
