- Introduce yourself to brownfields, or former industrial properties
- Learn about the challenges faced in redeveloping these sites
- Track the progress and upcoming events planned for the Norwalk Brownfields Task Force
It's an exciting time for economic and community development in Norwalk. The city has embarked on an aggressive strategy of redevelopment in order to fuse new life and investment within the city's urban core. With this redevelopment, the city hopes to transform its urban neighborhoods into welcome destinations to live, work, and play.
To achieve this goal, the city must overcome environmental barriers to redevelopment resulting from Norwalk's past as a center of manufacturing and industrial commerce. The presence or perceived presence of environmental contamination serves as an obstacle to investment in brownfields.
