Charter Revision Commission

The Charter Revision Commission has been meeting with City Department heads, officials from other municipalities, subject matter experts and the public biweekly since September 2022 to conduct a comprehensive review of the City of Norwalk’s Charter. The Charter was adopted in 1913 and contains provisions that no longer apply to current City operations.

In June of 2023, the Commission will bring its final recommendations forward to the Common Council for a vote on whether or not to move the recommended changes forward to the public. Following final approval of the Commission's recommended changes by the Common Council, the question of whether or not residents of the City of Norwalk want to adopt the new Charter will appear on the November 2023 ballot as a referendum.
