Agency Responsibilities

The Norwalk Inland Wetland Agency is charged with locally administering the Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Act of the Connecticut State Statutes. It is one of the city’s regulatory land use agencies.

The agency also regulates, with the review of permit applications, activities that may impact any of our city’s inland wetlands or watercourses. When reviewing applications, the agency determines whether the proposed activities are likely to impact wetlands or watercourses and whether any of the valuable functions of a wetland or watercourse would be diminished as a result of a proposed activity.
